Vermont legalizes e-prescribing of Schedule II controlled substances Vermont has become the final U.S. state to legalize the electronic prescribing of all controlled substances, by changing its laws to allow physicians and pharmacists to e-prescribe Schedule II drugs as well as drugs classified as Schedules III, IV, and V. Link to source>>  Only about 4% of U.S. prescribers use electronic prescriptions, even though 80% of pharmacies meet U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) standards for e-prescribing, according to Paul Uhrig, chief administrative and legal officer and chief privacy officer for the health information network Surescripts.
